Participation is an important theme in Brainport Smart District. When the idea came up (2016) people who wanted to live in the smartest neighborhood in the world were quickly involved. These pioneers are closely involved in the development of the district, more than just the development of their own home in this.
Via Brandevoort LAB you can already participate in the development of the Brainport Smart District and specific projects within it. Brandevoort LAB is a community in which the BSD foundation, the municipality of Helmond, various companies involved and residents of Brandevoort visit each other. In addition to the digital platform, there are also regular events where you can participate on specific themes.

The feasibility of the proposals below are currently being investigated.
Brainport Smart District has just been started. More and more businesses and organisations are involved and are being investigated on the feasibility at the moment. Below you will finds some of those projects.
Urban vision
Vision on living
The urban vision developed by UNStudio features a number of strips running from north to south that divide the area into several zones, each with a different building density. Shared facilities can be created in the district, such as kitchens, gardens, reading rooms and gyms. There will also be a mix of residential and work, with decentralised business space with offices and shared work spaces aimed at innovative collaborations. In the heart of the district will be a park of some 12 hectares with gardens, natural landscape and sports grounds. The park will be collectively owned by the users: everybody can become a member. At the fringes of the districts there will be 80 hectares for growing food (high-tech agriculture), water storage, nature and energy generation.
