Future thinkers wanted for Brainport Smart District User Council!

Future thinkers wanted for Brainport Smart District User Council!

How will our life look like in 20 years? And in 50 years? How is our living and working environment changing? Do we grow our own vegetables? Do we still drive to work by car? For the BSD User Council (title in development) we are looking for future thinkers who want to think about this.

Brainport Smart District wants to become the smartest city in the world. Living in the future, but already now. We want to make BSD an attractive neighborhood to live, work and stay. The BSD User Council will deal with this bridge between innovation and reality.

The user council can be asked by a company or institution to respond to an innovation project for BSD: if this idea will soon be part of the neighborhood, how would residents and visitors experience it? What should we take into account? What opportunities and obstacles do you see? In addition, the user council can also provide advice on its own initiative.

What does an innovative water-saving system actually mean for your daily shower? If the neighborhood becomes car-free, children can safely play outside, but will the neighborhood still be attractive to people with walking difficulties? Suppose we organize care locally and among ourselves, how does that change the bond between neighbors? How does a shared guest bedroom in the ward affect visiting family members?

How does it work?
We are looking for people who, with their own interest, want to think along about all questions related to BSD developments. In what form interested parties (you?) Can think along and how we will organize this? We would also be happy to discuss that with you. For example, we want to think together about the manner of consultation, cooperation, frequency, output and composition of the board. Once we have that clear, we will start substantively.

Are you joining us?
Are you interested in the latest innovations and would you like to talk about them? Or are you always sharp in your own environment on what could be done better or differently? Are you a critical thinker or can you speak from the experience of a specific target group? Then we are looking for you!

Send an email to Tove Elfferich, project leader User Council.

SUCCESSFUL ONLINE EDITION OF THE BSD ONLINE EVENT

SUCCESSFUL ONLINE EDITION OF THE BSD ONLINE EVENT

A successful 6th edition of the Brainport Smart District Network Event took place on June 25, 2020. This time not a physical meeting, but a live broadcast that could be followed online. We develop BSD together and that is why during the entire broadcast there was the opportunity to ask questions or provide input via a temporary WhatsApp number.

During this live broadcast, which was presented by Leon van der Zanden, Cathalijne Dortmans (Alderman of the Municipality of Helmond), Peter Portheine, Edwin Schellekens (Board of BSD) updated the general state of affairs in the new normal, the implementation program, the temporary housing and the results of the Business Challenge wave 4!

Digital signature
Special attention was given to all selected parties from this wave by means of a digital signature. In addition to this signing, three parties (Selfstorage Helmond, Antea Group and Stichting Stadslandbouw Brandevoort) also came to the studio to pitch their idea in the studio.

Curious about the innovative ideas of these parties? Or curious about what else has been discussed? View the broadcast here!

Pay attention! The telephone number is no longer available. Questions can be mailed to: info@brainportsmartdistrict.nl

Progess in building temporation homes

BSD and Cedrus-Adriaans are currently working together on an area development plan and an allotment plan for the realization of 500 temporary homes. In June the building permit for the temporary homes will be applied for and the construction of the temporary homes will start in Q4.

The construction of the temporary houses can go very quickly, because there are different concepts that can be realized within 1 to 3 days.

Housing offer temporary homes:

  • Cedrus-Adriaans Vastgoed Ontwikkeling BV realizes 250 homes;
  • The Brainport Smart District Foundation is building 250 homes on behalf of the municipality of Helmond.

Mobility Hub in BSD

Mobility Hub in BSD

Supermarkets and delivery services are working overtime due to the corona crisis. At the moment they are driving through empty streets, but without the corona crisis, the delivery services contribute to additional traffic in Helmond. Could a general collection point near the Brandevoort station in BSD help? We are investigating this in the European subsidized project SMUD and we need your opinion for that! Do you want to help us? Then complete the survey below.

SMUD
In the context of increasing the sustainability, road safety and accessibility of our city, we are looking for alternatives. Collection points for goods and packages, so-called ‘Shared Micro depots for Urban pickup and Delivery (SMUD), can be a solution for this.

Mobility hubs
The meeting point will become part of a mobility hub in Brandevoort. Municipality of Helmond and BSD want to develop a number of mobility hubs on the edge of the new district. In addition to the collection point for goods and parcels, various other services will become available, such as partial transport and electric charging stations.

Would you like to help us to organize the mobility hubs to your wishes and needs? Then complete the survey!
